Working from home may be a “tough job” for people who spent years working in an office. It may be difficult sometimes to adjust both the office experience and the working from home status. It may really feel insane to work from home. If you prepare for it, then it will be lot easier for you.

1. Separate your home office from the living room

Living room and your home office do not go hand in hand. Living room is generally noisy and your office should be serene and noise free as far as possible. Get a room away from your living room ( I know this may be difficult, if you are accommodating your new office space in your two room apartment, however you can still find a little calm corner to use as your work desk). Make sure children do not come to the office room to distract you. A little space that is calm and noise free will help you to think and work peacefully.

2. Ask your family to respect your home office

You need a tidy home office and work area. This is possible if your place is not touched by others. So, tell your family that this is you work area and nobody should disturb the organization of the area. Children should not touch your computer, pens and other office supplies. It helps you to save time by not needing to go searching for items in the house. It also helps in keeping your mental peace intact.  Your work area or room may be very small with only computer and a table, but still let others know that you do not like people touching and moving things from there.

3. Meet with other adults

Meet other people sometimes. Meeting people helps in keeping in touch with friends and family which makes you social. It also helps in keeping you sane by breaking free from monotonous works you do all the days. You can go to the church, to a social party, to a Temple or Masjid, to a party by your friends and other places that you like to meet with people. This keeps your stress away. It also helps in networking and networking is necessary for business.

4. Ask the help of your spouse

Your spouse can be a great source of support. You need a support system and you spouse can be an excellent source of support. Your spouse can help you in many ways such as- helping you in the work, taking care of children when you need to go out, helping in the household chores, help you to de-stress, providing suggestions and expertise, getting more contacts and customers etc. When you know that your spouse supports you, you can perform better in your home business.

5. Take vacations

Probably you will have lesser time to spend with your family. Many times, you may not be able to spend more time with the family because of your projects and deadlines. Now when you take vacation, you get more time to spend with them and bond better with them. They also enjoy the time being with you.

Taking a vacation also helps you to de-stress and break free from the routine work.
