IPhone apps development can be a great business for you. There are millions of iPhone users. If your iPhone app is popular, then you will be a millionaire within a short time. Generally iPhone apps are sold for $1 or less, but due to the volume of iPhone users, you can for sure become a millionaire with just one successful iPhone app. But, what about if your iPhone app fetches you $999.99 per copy?

Generally, the cost of iPhone applications available in App Store is very low, most of them with a price tag of $1. But there are some apps which cost a good amount of money, sometimes even $999.99.

One such app is BarMax CA

BarMax CA is an application that helps law students to prepare for the bar exam. However, the cost $999.99 is far lower than the cost of such tests preparation courses offered by BarBri , the company well known for such tests. BarBri courses cost $3,000 to $4,000.

BarMax CA thinks that lower price is justified because it’s just an app. Also questions have been raised about BarBri’s pricing structure and anti-competitive behavior, which has led to multiple class action lawsuits . BarBri also offers an iPhone application, and it’s free, but that needs your enrollment in their program to access it otherwise it’s useless.

The $1,000 BarMax CA app is over 1 gigabyte in size, which is a big size for an app. The app includes thousands of pages of materials as well as hundreds of hours of audio lectures. The content is equal to the two-month course. The course can be completely done on your iPhone. If you need paperwork for certain sections, BarMax sends you that electronically.

BarMax CA is meant for the California bar exam, but by the end of 2010, it may have apps available for New York, and the five other most popular states for the exam.  A multi-state version is also in the planning as much of the test doesn’t vary state to state. The app with just the multiple choice part will be available for $500.

Mike Ghaffary is the man behind the idea. The idea appeared while he was preparing for the bar exam. He didn’t like BarBri charging him $4,000 for an iPod with audio notes on it. He sensed that there was no real competition in the space. So he met some successful iPhone app developers in Los Angeles, and some fellow Harvard Law graduates to create the app. Ghaffary is the director of business development at TrialPay.

It is the most expensive app in the App Store, leaving behind a home security app that sells for $899. BarMax CA may save law students thousands of dollars, if it works well.

Apple was extra careful in checking BarExam CA out but as they had a high price, there was no Problems getting it approved.
